About Us & Our Mission
It is reported that the Messenger said, “Indeed in Hijamah there is a cure.”
Our mission is to bring tangible and noticeable improvements in people’s health while simultaneously reviving a highly recommended yet largely forgotten Sunnah of the Prophet (SAWS) through the simple but powerful practice of Wet Cupping.
Cupping Therapy Specialist:
Sabirah Shuaybi (B.A. Mount Holyoke College)
Sabirah is trained and certified by Madina Therapy Institute (madinatherapy.com). She received her Cupping Certification in 2019 and has been practicing Cupping Therapy for 3 years now.
Sabirah: "I am passionate about helping people reclaim their health through Hijama as well as various other therapies I’ve discovered on the path to healing myself and others. One of the most important things that has motivated me in the pursuit of healing and health, is that everyone has the ability to re-awaken their God-given, innate healing and master their own health."
Note: This practice currently serves only women in full privacy. We are in the process of training and certifying a male therapist to provide this service to men as well. The website will be updated accordingly when this practice begins to serve both genders.
About Our Cupping Sessions:
Our Equipment, Products & Cupping Process
The highest standards of sanitization are maintained at our clinic with single-use, disposable cupping equipment along with a clean hospital gown for each person. Our comfortable massage table is also fully sanitized before and after each session.
We use professional cupping and massage equipment to ensure each cupping session is as effective and streamlined as possible. Our high-powered vibration massage is used first to loosen up the back, neck and shoulder muscles and encourage blood circulation. Then, our cupping machine is used for moving cupping therapy (precursor to Wet Cupping). This machine effortlessly generates consistent but customizable suction and thus is wonderful for promoting blood flow in preparation for the Wet Cupping process.
High quality products are used during each cupping session to maximize the body's healing during and after cupping. Organic Blackseed Oil (for moving cupping), Organic Comfrey Salve (for muscle/joint pain), and Organic Calendula Salve (for speedy skin healing after scratches) are applied during the session and therapeutic essential oils are diffused throughout the session. At the end, complementary dates are offered as well.
A General Cupping Session (45 Mins):
1. Vibration Massage (10 Mins)
2. Comfrey Salve + Blackseed Oil Application
3. Moving Cupping Massage (10 Mins)
4. Dry Cupping (5 Mins)

How is Hijama Performed?
(What to Expect During Your Session)
Our Hijama sessions begin with a quick consultation (for first timers) to discuss any relevant medical history, review the general process of hijama and see how to customize the session to any specific health needs you may have. A new sterile equipment set (cups, pump, surgical blade and hospital gown) is provided for each person. This set is comprised of cups, a pump and a surgical blade, which are all single use and disposable. All other equipment such as our cupping machine, massage table and gowns are sanitized before each client.
1. We begin by sanitizing the skin and massaging the entire back (or any area of relevance) using a high-vibration deep massager. This helps to loosen up the muscles and promote blood flow.
2. Comfrey herbal salve is applied to the back (known for its powerful muscle and joint relief and healing properties) along with some black-seed oil (to help the cup glide smoothly for the next step).
3. Next, Moving Cupping Massage is performed with a suction machine to increase blood circulation.
4. Cups (10-12) are applied with custom suction strength (traditionally on the neck, shoulders and back for general detox, unless otherwise specified).
5. After 5 minutes, cups are released and shallow, superficial scratches are made on the skin that was being dry cupped and cups are placed back with suction to draw the toxic blood out.
6. At the end of the session, Calendula herbal salve (known for its skin healing and soothing properties) is gently applied to the scratches to promote itch relief and speedy healing.

The entire session takes approximately 45-60 minutes, depending on the quantity and positioning of the cups. During the session, the Hijama practitioner will continually ask how you are doing and ensure that you are comfortable during each step. After Hijama, we will discuss your aftercare.

What to Do Before & After Hijama?
Before
-
Ensure that you are well-hydrated (bone broth, electrolytes, coconut water)
-
Ideally take a shower before hijama session since a shower after can irritate the scratches
-
Wear lose, comfortable and informal clothing (we use calendula herbal salve to soothe the scratches afterwards and sometimes some oil can transfer to the clothes, so keep that in mind as well)
After
-
Eat rich nutrient dense meal to replenish the body and help it to make high quality red blood cells
-
Recommended to have some warm water with honey after hijama session, according to Sunnah
-
Avoid taking a shower 24 hours after the Hijama if possible
-
Apply calendula salve or coconut oil to scratches is they continue to itch while they heal
How Often Should I Get Hijama Done?
It is recommended in Sunnah that a healthy person should get Hijama done once a month for daily maintainance of health. A diseased person or one suffering from a particular ailment such as diabetes, is recommended to do Hijama twice a month, or once every 2 weeks.
